Games Workshop Citadel Base Paint - Khorne Red (12ml) for Miniatures, Warhammer 40K & Tabletop Gaming - Perfect for Base Coating, Detailing & Model Painting

A little too dark for what I wanted to paint, actually, but matched perfectly for a different project - in the pot, or at least in the brightly lit photo booth, it looks significantly brighter than it does dried on the piece, so if you're not actually painting to the specs on a Warhammer figure be aware of that. It does make an excellent opaque coat with only a single layer without being too thick (as in filling details, leaving brushmarks, and adding a ridge at the edge) or (with a few drops of water added) viscous, and as intended it also makes a great base coat for adding a brighter red on top of, especially if dry-brushing is involved to pick out highlights while leaving the deeper color in crevices. Sticks like the dickens after a couple of days to cure, but before that it can be scraped off of smooth plastic parts to clean up edges and detailed shapes. Does not cause problems when applied over lacquers, but softens and may wipe away or mix colors if used as the base under lacquer and you're not very quick with the brush, or using an airbrush/spray can. Overall, highly recommended.It's ok. It was ready to go as soon as I got It. Poped it opened and it worked instantly. I just don't think I'm a fan of the actually color. I think I like mephiston red more. Got it for my tyrannid army. You need it for the spikey bits.I would have rated this product five stars if the container had not been so tiny. Granted, there was more than enough paint for my twelve little berserkers, but I will have to purchase another one when I next paint minions of Khorne. Other than that, I was highly staisfied with the paint itself. It was nice and opaque, so unlike the watery discount paints I had been using prior, the primer on the berserkers in question did not show through and as an added bonus the brushstrokes are not visible.
