This review based on a couple of solo plays...Very good addition to Descent 2nd ed, looking forward to playing this with my group after we finally finish the base game campaign. So far it feels like a must buy...Minor down sides first...- I can see it being a little more finite than the base game, in that, you do go through most of the Exploration cards in one play through, but that is a slight gripe, as there's replay to be had in the order in which all the types of cards are drawn. Plus at this price, I could see FF producing more of these story driven solo/coop expansions.- Not sure how I feel about the Fate/Doom timer system (the primary method by which the games Overlord wins and the means by which it forces the heroes to keep moving), seems a shade too harsh, and I'm sure it will put some off.Now all the good stuff...+ Solo or cooperative play (my preferred game type).+ The hero turns are very similar to the base game, but their progression is sped up to play out through this one expansion (which also includes a loot for monster kills system). This means it's a great way to learn all the different hero characters skills and gear in a shorter amount of time.+ The Overlord turn and dungeon creation is driven via Exploration cards - I prefer this over the base game rule that everyone knows everything about any given quest. Exploration cards put in the mystery and story elements I love in games like (another FF great) Mansions of Madness.+ Nice price and small size.
