Description

The Colorku Story Colorku is the original 'Sudoku in Color' wooden board game. Our family started making Colorku in 2005, by drilling holes into old wooden planks and hand-painting hundreds of wooden balls at our cabin near Lake Michigan. Now, ColorKu is played by many as a fun, challenging pastime and has been used as an educational and mental strengthening tool in schools and hospitals around the world. Colorku can be played alone or with others. Use puzzle cards to set up the board and deductive reasoning to fill in the missing spaces. One of each color fits in every column, row, and square. Solutions are included. Quality Wooden Board Games All Mad Cave Bird Games are made of hardwood, specifically rubberwood, a renewable source and one of the most stable construction materials available for furniture and toys. The solid-wood board comes with - 81 marbles in 9 different colors + a marble storage tray - 104 puzzle cards in five levels of difficulty + a puzzle card holder - A solutions sheet and a color conversion card that will help you to convert traditional Sudoku number puzzles to play on your ColorKu board The small colorful balls are painted with non-toxic materials. All parts of our games are tested and certified as safe by both US and European standards. ColorKu is Sudoku in Color If you're a fan of Sudoku, you and your family will love ColorKu! Instead of using numbers to solve the puzzles, ColorKu uses brightly colored wooden marbles. Playing the puzzle on a wooden board allows you to rotate the game to give you a different perspective as you play. ColorKu will help sharpen your Logic and Deductive reasoning skill! ColorKu comes with 104 puzzle cards in five levels of difficulty. The cards tell you where to place the marbles on the board in order to start your game. The puzzle is solved by placing the remaining marbles on the board so that there is one of each color in each row, each column, and each of the nine 3x3 squares. The game emphasizes logic, deductive reasoning, problem-solving and fun! Place it on the coffee table and you're ready whenever you feel like a challenge. Extremely impressed with this game & manufacturer. Solid wood board, nice uniform depressions for the wooden balls to safely rest in. Sturdy plastic lid that holds the balls in place - once a game's completed just put the lid on, flip the whole thing over, and you're ready to set up the next game. Not sure why some reviewers feel the need for a bowl or bag, if anything, I'd just suggest playing with the board on carpet or fabric of some kind to minimize balls rolling in the event you choose to set them around the perimiter closest to the square where they'll need to be played (depends on your strategy). The startup cards are on nice thick cardboard and store in a nice little box. (True, the card box won't fit in the game box once assembled, but not a big deal to me, and by the way the game box is also very well made/sturdy.) The wooden balls are well painted in colors I find very easy to distinguish. (The startup cards are also distinct colors, but the greens & blues look more similar on there, so just be careful in setting up.)Some have made the suggestion of marking a black dot on each ball, and placing the startup balls with the dot up, as well as any balls whose position you're certain about. I may end up doing that, but haven't yet gotten to the levels hard enough to make that helpful. In lieu of that I may just buy a bag of small rubber bands and use those to mark the "certain" balls.I also bought the companion game, "TicTacKu" which uses the same board and comes with 9 metal rings (which could also be used as "markers" in playing ColorKu). I love the fact that TicTacKu has a it's own unique concept, and gives the ColorKu board a 2nd purpose. So impressed with this manufacturer I also bought their "22 ku-du!" game, which is a whole different sort of game, but equally well designed.Bought all three for my mom who's a sudoku nut, but in testing it out I got myself hooked, so now I'm ordering a 2nd set for her, as well as another one for my brother.
